Although all the trades people that were sent out to repair our damage were excellent, our service master rep, Matt, needs to improve his communication skills! Almost every time I called him and left a message I either did not get a response or waited almost up to a week to get a response. I would often leave detailed questions so we wouldn’t have to “connect “to get my answers. He could’ve left the answers to my questions on my voicemail the few times that he called me back. All he did was leave a message that he called. He never answered my questions and then we would have to play Telephone tag again in hopes that he would call me back. It was extremely frustrating. Also prior to the restoration and during the restoration, I spoke to him to confirm that our deductible would be covered with the leftover money from the repair. He told me at the time that “shouldn’t be a problem “. We never spoke of it again and I assumed all was fine. The job continued as expected, and was finally completed. I then got a call from Matthew a few weeks after the major repairs were done,(there was just one small bit of work that still needed to be done), saying that he was checking his files and had seen that I hadn’t paid our deductible. I said to him that, “yes, that is correct. I did not pay our deductible because I spoke to him about it prior and it was to be covered by the repair quote.” He then claimed that he didn’t remember that conversation and would have to check his files. I then got a call from him saying that we owed the deductible. Not impressed that I was not informed of this when we had our original conversation months ago. There was a few changes to the work order, but when I discuss that with Matt early on in the renovation process, he said that that wouldn’t be a problem as it was a very small change and they should be able to cover the small change in the work order and the deductible. That obviously wasn’t the case because he sent me an invoice for the deductible when the job was complete. More transparency and returning phone calls in a timely manner and/or answering detailed questions on a voicemail on a Return call would be appreciated.
Due to June 9th, 2026 rain storm my town got 10 inches of rain, and I ended up with water up to the first step at the bottom of my basement stairs. My basement is fully finished with 2 bedrooms, rec room, full bathroom and storage area. I called my Insurance company Red River Mutual at 9:00 am on June 10th, and Joel from Service Master was at my house late afternoon that day. Shortly after this the clean up crew was here to start removing everything from the basement. They documented everything that was damaged. I want to say a "Huge thank you to everyone that was at my house doing the clean up, you were great and took so much stress off of my plate"! Christine who I spoke to many times on the phone is a sweetheart. She is so kind and so very helpful! Chris has also been amazing at organizing everything that has been done and needs to be done, as well as answering my questions. He has also taken a lot off stress off of me and has been so helpful. Another gentleman came out to the house from Service Master to check to see how things were going, and I'm so sorry but I can't remember his name. He was so nice and helpful as well. He was great at answering the questions that I had. I really can't say enough about Service Master and all of their employees that I have dealt with. I highly recommend this company and thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this difficult time in my life, less stressful. I appreciate everyone of you, for your kindness and all the work that you have done for me.
We had flood in our basement with raw sewage coming up. When I called ServiceMaster they sent out a group that were helping out from Ontario. Brad and Kyle and their team were fantastic! Right from the initial visit to the clean up they were so kind and thoughtful. If I could give them a 15 out of 10 I would!! It was such a stressful time and they couldn't have been kinder. I would definitely recommend them!!
Posting on behalf of a homeowner: Hello, We just want to thank ServiceMaster Restore for attending to our flood emergency so quickly, but we really want to single out Mitch, who supervised our demolition. He conducted himself with the utmost professionalism, courtesy and thoroughness. He went above and beyond the call to ensure our basement was kept organized of its' contents, and the affected areas clean and free of dust including our main floor. Mitch explained the whole process from start to finish. No detail was too small. He kept us updated as he, and his very capable crew moved forward. We hope we never have to experience a flooded basement again, but we would request and trust Mitch to get us through another stressful ordeal. Please post this on Google Gmail if you can as we do not have an account or the ability to post for all to see. Kind Regards, David & Shirley
Mitch and Matt arrived on schedule and put floor protection down. They moved all of the items from the cupboards impacted from the water damage into boxes and removed the flood damaged material under the linoleum. They treated all water damaged drywall with spray so nothing toxic would become airborne. They removed all the damaged cupboards and vacuumed up all the debris. We could not have been happier with their professional and friendly interactions with us and their attention to detail. They went above and beyond to make the repairs necessary and minimize the disruption to our home as best they could, even repaired a couple of broken stairs on our deck. We really appreciate their efforts!
Service Master responded immediately to some basement flooding that occurred. Michael was great to deal with through the process and kept things on schedule and made the process much less stressful. All of the workers were fantastic and Christina was a pleasure to deal with for scheduling.
Mike and the crew were great! Worked extremely hard to get what looked like a yucky job done fast and efficiently. Very friendly crew.
Overall the quality of the work was good. My issues stem from 1. Communication. I had setup Monday-Friday to complete the job. However they didn't show up on the Friday to complete the job citing "the carpet needs to be replaced before finishing". However it was determined the carpet didn't need to be replaced the week prior....the result was a 10 day delay in completion. 2. Depicted in my picture is the breakoff blade from a utility knife that I found in the carpet. Thankfully I found it before it sliced someone (I have a dog and a 3 year old in the house).
ServiceMaster of Winnipeg uses deceitful tactics to strain as much money as possible from the homeowner’s insurance allocation. We had approximately 1 inch of water in the central area of our basement due to sump pump failure. We immediately contacted our insurance company and 2 representatives from Service Master of Winnipeg were sent to our home. They analyzed the small flood and concluded that our $30,000 insurance coverage would not be enough to cover our needs. They did nothing to prevent secondary damage such as putting furniture on blocks, saving doors, popping off baseboards and casings, rolling back carpet, etc. There was no discussion about limits or stages of restoration. Instead this company waited 5 days to commence emergency service. That was enough time to allow the water to seep towards the extremities of our basement and into our furniture, baseboards, doors, casings, drywall, built in cabinets. A strong musty smell was developing in the basement. Everything was getting ruined. Two days later without permission from our insurance company or us and without an appointment, a group of service master employees, claiming to be the content crew, came to our home and started emptying some drawers, rummaging through valuables in night stands and dressers, boxing some of our items, tagging some of our furniture, removing some clothing from closets. They partially did all of this unnecessary work for 2 days, then left. None of our contents were ever removed from our property. Many false charges were put on our bill. Contaminated good were left amongst clean undamaged goods. Some items were boxed. Many items were left as is. My husband and I are seniors and had to remove the contaminated items ourselves, put boxes in the garage, and then try to rebuild our destroyed basement with very little money left over in our $30,000 coverage. In conclusion, ServiceMaster of Winnipeg is a scam, deceitful, and unprofessional. They care more about their monetary gains and very little about the homeowner. We have compared their service fees to other companies and the difference in cost is exorbitant. -
Unfortunately had a small fire in my rental condo but ServiceMaster (Holly & Bob) have been absolutely fantastic to work with. The emergency portion was finished very quick and am moving forward to have the complete restoration completed by them. Very professional and keep you in the loop and updated on the entire process. God forbid anyone has to go through this or some other emergency but I would certainly highly recommend ServiceMaster to anyone in a tough position.
I had work done through Service Master and SS Plumbing via Wawanesa and my pocket book .. all I can say is run . It has been about three years since the company did their shoddy work and we are still suffering to this day. Let’s just say two leaks under the sink that ruined the new vanity , and a leaky toilet that caused a new claim in the main bathroom and also the basement bathroom Along with this a poorly installed wall in the tub which was removed and installed over and over again and resulted in more leak damage … which I am just going to have to repair right now.Havivg to call Shodoor to remove and install the shower doors they they installed theee years ago… yes costs me 350 last week Just imagine, two leaks in sink area , leak in toilet / major and leak in shower wall .. all was installed by professional plumbers though Service Master . It is no wonder the company was sold off to others , just hope they can revive the name brand . And yes, I have many many photos !
